Haitian Independence Day is a day of remembrance and pride for every Haitian familiar with the country’s history. To celebrate the unprecedented event that transpired on that day, Haitians consume the exotic squash soup that French colonists used to enjoy as part of their traditional dishes. Because slaves were forbidden from consuming this dish, the freed people, in revenge, made the consumption of squash soup a symbol of remembrance of their accomplishment every New Year’s Day, the same day that the forefathers proclaimed the Independence of Haiti. While the historical significance of this day is tied to our freedom from the French, it is also viewed as a day of fraternization and sharing among our people. More importantly, it is a day to help those who cannot afford to prepare this meal enjoy it by donating to the squash soup drive with a loving and selfless heart.
We who are financially stable and secure should be humbled by the idea of assisting those who cannot help themselves. Hence, let us make it our mission to feed as many people as possible by contributing generously to this most humane and compassionate cause. Let us feed the hungry, the needy, and the less fortunate. Let us show the world that we can unite and make a difference in the lives of those in need. Let us be the beacon of light that shines in the lives of the poor and hungry. We can do this, we will do this, and we are doing this. We are more than the calamities and chaos that have caused so much devastation in the lives of so many people in Haiti. As patriots of a proud nation, let us show the world that we can overcome our differences by making a difference in mutual communion and celebration.
We are one people, one nation, and our souls are bound together in our shared history. More importantly, we are responsible for the welfare and well-being of one another as a collectivity. Hence, let us come together and fulfill this great commission by donating as much as we can to the squash soup drive. Let our hearts be moved to show the world that we shall overcome. Let us feed our brothers and sisters in need with the selflessness and the love that led our forefathers to fight for the freedom of our people. Let us make the Independence Day celebration a true symbol of harmony and generosity by making a difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters through our donations to this exceptionally great and genuine cause.
Empower the spirit of Haitian Independence Day by contributing to the Squash Soup Drive. Your donation ensures a shared celebration, providing nourishment and hope to those in need.
Genesis, 2:15 – The LORD God took the man, and placed him in the garden of Eden to cultivate it and to keep it.
It is quite simply the establishment of work. God did not create man to stay in the garden, no! He entrusts him with a job, that of managing creation. Here, we mainly think of gardening and agriculture, but by extension, science, technology and culture in general fall within the framework of the mission entrusted to man by God. RJCATEL in this responsibility that God gave us, under the patronage of GSPCC was in Ouanaminthe to offer its contribution for the construction of the canal which will help water our land and help farmers to have a better yield! We give God glory and honor for what he has done for us.
Some moments of the trip in pictures! Be blessed in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior!!!
